A Fiber-Optic Accelerometer Based on Extrinsic Fabry-Perot Interference for Low Frequency Micro-Vibration Measurement

A fiber-optic accelerometer based on extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer (EFPI) is reported. The sensor adopts flywheel diaphragm structure as a sensitive element, where the mass block bonded in center, while beam of acts spring. element forms single degree freedom spring-mass-damper system. parameters are designed finite simulation (FEM), and transfer function established by numerical simulation. experiments indicate that has wide detection frequency band with detectable ability for micro-vibration low 0.01 Hz, sensitivity 7.02 rad/g @20 reach an average 6.39 5–20 Hz. research shows good development prospect field detection.
